Mr. Dave Elder c/o Evening Journal Washington, Iowa 16 April 1944 My dear Dave: Thanks so much for your newsy circular that came to me yesterday. I am unable to express to you how very much I appreciate it. It gave me the news that I wanted to know about the people I am most interested in. Those from home. I have been very busy but I have been able to visit some places of interest. I have seen Max Donaldson and Al Baldrige. Each of them came by and spent a day with me and it was mighty nice to have a visit with them. Some of the men I had in my old troop have been by to see me and I was most happy to see them. Opal has been in the hospital for a time so she tells me with a broken bone in her foot. Everyone has been very nice to her and I appreciate it. She sent me a list of the inductees and they seem to be taking everyone. Dave I have to run but do keep me on your mailing list. You tell the things I like to hear about. My love to Mable and your (mother?) and my regard to you. Sincerely [Illegible] Lt.Col W. G. Eldridge
