April 26, 1944 Dear Dave, Did I like your weekly letter? I'll say I did! It just contained all the little bits that you miss most away from home. I do hope you won't regret sending it to a "female", and that you will continue sending it down sweetwater way. Not much excitement down here though we're all a little on edge wondering what's to become of the Wasp Training Program. They're cracking down on us and trying to make us more military in case we are taken into the army. They push us so hard and keep us under such terrific pressure that they've been pretty lax on little things. Started our last phase yesterday. Passed my army instrument check in the morning and went up to Navigation in the afternoon. That includes night flying and cross country - our last [70?] hours. If I can just survive that much longer. Several girls in my class left just this week. Graduation is June 24; and if we get in the Army, will get an additional 4-6 weeks in an officers' Training school
