May 1, 1944 Dear Dave & all I have received 3 of your messages of scuttlebut and I really appreciate them, because of the news quips which a person likes to know. That sure was tough news about Cloyce Babcock and I was very sorry to hear about it. Relay to Shorty my best regards will you Dave. ( Say all the fellows sure spoke the truth about the different nicknames that are attached to you. Some of mine are Grumpy, Alexander, from the telephone inventer and One cell. That last one is the prize.) Ha! Say Dave I wish you weren't so casual about the way you mention the fellows that are home on leave. Do you realize I practically don't know the meaning of that word leave? Ha I can't realized Marion George out of the Treasurer office. In fact he probably he probably feels a bit out of place himself. Well not much to say so will come to an abrupt stop. Say hello to everybody and take care of yourself. Best Regards, [illegible] [Russell A. Bell 2.C.2/C]
