Monday evening [May 15, 1944] Dear Dave, Sure glad to hear from you and what a pleasant surprise The Scuttlebutt. It's just what the doctor ordered. Guess you people in Washington are still doing a bang up job of holding the fort. Last Sunday evening as I boarded the train in Oakland to come back to camp after a weekend visit with Alvin Walker, I met Mr. & Mrs. Lt. Ed. Brown, It was really a surprise and I rode with them as far as Sacramento. Oh yes, they have a fine four month old son, Tommy. It sure is a small world I guess. Here at the Personnel Replacement Depot we never know when we will be called, but keep sending the Scuttlebutt, please. Well must close in time to catch barracks No 1 "Our Man Friday", he's going to the PX for our "Bed Time Refreshments." Take it easy Dave and thanks alot for remember a Washington G.I. Bill Arnold [Pvt. Wm. R. Arnold]
