[May 17? 1944] Hq Sqd. M.C.A.D. Miramar San Diego 45, Calif Dear Scuttlebutt, Just received Drip No 7. They are really so good, that as soon as I finish reading one, i start looking for the next. Certainly is swell to hear about the boys from home and also about the people back home. I have been out here a little over a year now and from the looks of things it will be some time before we get back. Sorry to hear about your late winter back there. It's funny, but we are having some of the noted California "liquid sunshine" and cool weather out this way. Unusual- of course. It's nice to know where the boys are according to your "Drips". I have been quite fortunate in meeting boys from home out here. Francis Harry (now in the South Pacific) Don Gingery (South Pacific) and Willis Booth were stationed a camp Elliott when I was there. I ran into Wayne Chamberlain in San Diego one evening.
