May 23, 1944 Dear Dave: Well I guess it is about time that I wrote you telling how much I enjoy your little paper. I think it is very thoughtful of you and the Y's men to send your paper out to all of us fellows. Of now my letter won't be one of these nice exciting ones like you receive from some of the boys, but just a nice calm one. The state of Washington in case you didn't already know it, is one of the worst places for rain I've ever seen. It started raining here last Sunday afternoon
