lately. Jack Watson came over just before he left & we went over to see Kenny White. Jack got away before I could see him again. Both ready to admit they'd like to see home a little. Went over & talked with Kenny last nite & did a little reminiscing. After that, I chanced to go to the Red Cross Recreation bldg. & it was Iowa-Nebraska nite. They have State nites about once a week or something like that. Took a Pennsylvania friend in with me (nobody else by Ia & Neb allowed) and put him down as Des Moines. Too many people stopped him to ask questions about Des Moines, so I took his tag & changed it to Washington. I figured I could do the talking for that. However Muscatine & Ottumwa were about the closest. There are two girls from Muscatine - twins - who are Red Cross girls at Base Hosp Six.- where Kenny is. Heard a fine colored outfit there - the sax man was from Fletcher Henderson. Lucky Millinder, Earl Hines & other name colored bands. Have finally met a couple of musicians myself - a trumpet man from Tommy Tucker's orch. - & a sax man from L.A. I think there are more around- so we hope to get together & really have some fun. I wish they were with our outfit. We finally have some voices in our outfit - so we are hoping to get up a pretty fair choir. Have to wait & see about that though. Another day - another letter- & time for chow. The next time you go to Kingsbury, eat a fish for me. I've sure bragged them up since I've been in the Navy & Kingsbury will be one of the first places I will go when ever I get home. So long for now. Sincerely Donald R Boyer. PHM 2/c Don
