August 18, 1944 France Dear Dave: I'm sorry that I waited so long to thank you for the silver bars, but as you know doubt know I have been busier than the cat on a tin roof. Thanks a lot for the bars they sure did come in handy. I have been getting a day by day, blow by blow, birds eye view through my gun sight view of the big show over here. I'm sure going to have some neat stories to tell when I get back. I'm considered one of the old timers over here now with the number of missions (over)
