Company C. Barracks-9 Med. Dep. Enl Techn. School Fort Sam Houston, Texas September 18, 1944 Dear Dave: I just received the 24th Drip - and the day Scuttlebutt comes is a happy one, because I'm always glad to hear from all the boys who are in the service. It's amazing how they are scattered all over the world. It'll be a mad race when this is all over to see who can get back to Washington first. Maybe they should enlarge the local airport to take care of the boys who'll be flying in. They say they need technicians, so I'm here at Brooke General Hospital where they're trying to make one of me. It is all very interesting. It's past time I was sending my correct address, but it is here. These last few Scuttlebutts have had a hard time getting to me. I'd venture to say they have made more stops than some going overseas. I - or my wife and I ran into Don Minick and his wife in San Antonio the other afternoon. I guess it 's known my wife was down for a few days. I really hated to see her go back.
