Troop B, 125 Cav. Sq. (Mecz) A.P.O. 230 %Postmaster New York, New York Sept 29, 1944 Dear Dave, The other night I received the Scuttlebutt and I read it in the swell bar room I mentioned in my last letter. John Bidwell was there and and we had a swell time. He said it was the first Scuttlebutt he had read. When David Earl said that Calvidore was block and tackel, he gave it a good name. I know, I tried it out but I didn't get the block to make the tackel. The next morning I had to go before the C.O. I still didnt feel so good, but I promised never to drink stuff again. Whenever we are ordered to go we get there and have fun doing it. If you think it isn't fun you should have been with us on our drive accross northern France. We pushed the Germans over two hundred miles in fourty eight hours. It was said that it couldn't be done, but the cav. completes its missions and then we have more fun. I will be glad when we get the mission to move back to the states. Then we will have fun and the sky will be the limate. Always, Clarence [Pfc. Clarence E. Haifley}
