Nov 7, 1944 Dear Dave: Little did I realize that evening so many years ago when I delivered your Journal and your Dad ask me if I'd like to see a new baby - and took me up to your mother's room where you were so proudly displayed - (and like the rest of us and our kids you wasn't to much to look at.) that you'd be keeping me in stride with life in Washington. I am Sqdn. Gunnery Officer here with a B-29 outfit which is quite interesting. I've been gone so long that I know few of the kids you write about but I know their Dads and it's all interesting. I'll see that you get to try the K.Rations but don't
