February 5, 1944 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad & Mom: The "Grand Old Opry" is going full swing here as I imagine it is back in West Union, someone has it turned on so loud the barracks fairly shakes. There are only a couple of radios left, which is more or less a relief most of the fellows have shipped theirs home. We seem to have adopted a kitten there is a little three colored one that has been hanging around for a couple of weeks. Its a nice little thing and so far carefull. Have just been out on the line looking at my new airplane. The boys changed the plugs and pulled an inspection on it getting her all ready for action. The Colonel flew her on a couple of flights the other day and put his okay on it. Havent a name for her as yet but will do some heaving thinking. Had a letter from you and one from Aunt Cara today, also a card from Lawrence Greenlee who was going home on furlough, he is one of the Indiana boys I used to be with. Went
