February 25, 1944 Dear Dad & Mom: Have something to write this time, it was certainly fine getting to see Jim, Irma and Rammy. There were all well and Rammy has recovered from the measles but was still at home. Spent all day with them, had lots of good food and got in a lot of visiting. The house is a honey. You wouldnt believe it is the same old ugly California bungalow they bought a few years back. I guess it isnt the same one thou when you figure the additions etc. The large room they put on is about 24 feet wide and is 32 feet long has a beautiful fire place (which works) and is so well arranged. They certainly have some attractive furniture and everything just seems to belong. They transplanted the box wood hedges from the other place and it all came thru famously. The little formal garden with it's flagged walks, hedges etc is just like a picture. Have the iron furniture painted like the house a real pale pink (sounds awful) but isnt. When its dry it looks white but when wet is quite colored like a white house in the sunset. Took a friend along with me and I think he enjoyed himself. Irma took some pictures and I expect she'll send you some. I think you've heard me speak of
