May 1, 1944 Italy Dear Dad & Mom: I have a spare moment so will try and write a few lines. I'm getting your good letters regularly and it seems to take the V-mail about two weeks. The last one I received you still didn't know where I was but Im hoping the next one I get you will have found out. It did take longer than we had at first expected and I'll tell you all about it when I see you. Got paid today, I rather expected we might be late over here but so far it has been right on the button. I'm sending home two hundred and fifteen dollars today thru the system the government has i spoke of once before. It may beat this letter thru as our adjutant said it should only take around ten days. Im glad to know my regular allotment is coming thru all right, should get one those payments soon too. Golly all my old buddies are raising families aren't they I'll bet old A.C. Peterson is proud of the new grandchild. Say while I think of it who is Mrs. Branhard you spoke
