Netherlands East Indies 13th Air Force 9 February 1945 Dear Mr. Elder, Just a line to let you know that we are receiving the "Scuttlebutt," sometimes 4 and 5 issues at one mail call. The mail situation has improved some and we are getting mail from the states in about two weeks. We are stationed on an island and our area is right on the beach, can go swimming every day. We managed to get some lumber to make a floor for the tent, but don't have it screened yet. Have a new A.P.O. number since leaving New Guinea, it is now 719 c/o P.M. San Francisco. Haven't met any of the hometown boys yet but met a fellow from Keata on the way over. Yours truly, [illegible] & Lester Hamil [T/Sgt. L. M. Hamil]
