Belgium Feb. 10 – 45 Dear Dave:– Just a few lines in which I'd like to extend late congratulations to "Scuttlebutt," it's staff & sponsors. Really have enjoyed them – & hope they always keep coming. Never bother to ask of anyone's whereabouts in letters home, but always wait & usually locate the fellas & gals through your publication. Another "first" for the old hometown! First learned of "Scuttlebutt's" existence back in England & a few days after D-Day mine started rollin' in on the continent & have been my main source of local "scandal" since. Realize quite a few locals are up & down the Seigfried but seldom have seen many. Occasionally a few of the old "D" troopers get back for short visits — but those fellas have been plenty busy. And as has been said many times in "Scuttlebutt" – Those fellas deserve every kind of praise. They've been out in front since the early days back in Normandy, & have absorbed quite a lot. Have been one of those fortunate guys myself & really have no right to a seemingly legitimate bitch. All you've got to do is think of those cavalrymen, doughboys & tankers in the line – & it makes us seem pretty small. – Anyhow that's how it should be. As I said – "just a few lines." Best wishes to all around the plant – & thanks again for the swell work. We won't forget. — PARDON SPELLING – LOST MY WEBSTER'S Yours truly, [T/5] Harold P Wolf
