Sunday, 25 Feb [1945] Dear Mr. Elder, I wish to thank you very much for the Scuttlebutt. Before I went away I heard a lot about it, but I didn't realize it's value. I enjoyed it very much & I'm sure all the fellows who read it do, too. Just a few words about our basic training to let you know that it is rough. Naturally the Air Corps think they are better than the "Infantry", and to convince us basics, the training that is handed to us during basic is considerably harder than the Inf. But in spite of everything I realize that I have enough to be fighting for that I am having a reasonably good time, that is as good as we have time for.
