In the Marianias
Dear Scuttlebutt-A few lines to thank all the people, who are doing the swell work in getting the scuttlebutt to we wayword people - it is a [scratched out:verry] very welcome sheet. I am on one of the large islands of this group - we are busy building our depot. Also am looking forward to cutting a stock of banannas, and climbing up for a coconut. We have a few. We can see the evidence of a very tought fight - we still have a few of [Togos?] pals hid out here - in fact four were disposed of [within?] one-half mile of our quarters - one surrendered, one [hari-kari?] - one shot, and one was fried - hope this finds the home town still in there pitching - say note my address - send me Clinton Stewarts address
