March 1, 1945 Dear Dave, Im sorry I havent written sooner but just never took the time. I want to thank you for sending me the Scuttlebutt. I recieve it regularly and appreciate it very much. In all of the issues I have recieved not once has been men- tioned the Splinter Fleet or Motor Torpedo Boats. They are a great bunch of boats 80 feet of speed power and guns. Our job is to keep the Japs from getting supplies from one Island to another. We dont wait for trouble just go looking for it We just secured one group of Islands and are now preparing for another.
