Are there many changes in the town? I try to imagine what it's like now, say on a Saturday night - if the band still plays in the park, with the youngsters playing in the park, and all the people in from the country meeting friends and stopping to talk. There used to be some busy Saturday nights in McDaniels - especially behind the fountain on an August night, with the temperature up in the stratosphere. In direct contrast I remember the hikes I used to take south of town, out past the red brick schoolhouse. Is it still a landmark there? It's odd, the things one remembers when thousands of miles away. It's rumored that those are the things we're fighting for, and my humble opinion is that the rumor is truth in this case. Will say cheerio now, Dave. It's nearly time for lunch, and three years outside the States hasn't impaired my appetite. Keep the Scuttlebutts coming. They're the most regular mail I receive, except for letters from the folks. Vera sends her regards to you and Mable. Les
