Waterloo, Ia., September 24, '18 My dear Mrs. Whitley: I am very sorry I can not be present at the meeting in Des Moines, but I am doing some other patriotic work also that demands my presence here, substituting for a few weeks in the city schools for a teacher who is doing war work in Washington. However our county will have an excellent representative in Miss Myra Call, who will tell you all that I havent said. I hadn't intended to be so remiss about sending in the list of workers that you requested some time ago; I always had it in my mind as one of the things I meant to do, but was delayed partly by the rush of affairs and partly because all the chairmen had not sent in their lists. Some time before I had requested all chairwomen to complete the organizations in their townships and most of them had sent in their lists. I would not want to vouch for the fact that all these district women were active workers, but I feel that all the township chairwomen were and many of the others also. Altho I can't be present - I want to send a brief report as I am very proud of the work our Woman's Com. has done in this county since the last meeting. I am enclosing Mrs. Hemsworth's report on Child Welfare work which I requested her to make. In the Student Nurse Reserve work, we have sent in 33 completed applications with others to be sent in soon. I could never succeed in finding our county quota; but as the district was 110, think we must have passed our
