fortune to listen to. It would be superflous for me to describe his personal appearence, as his peculiarities are too well known to newspaper readers. From reports formerly read, I had formed about the same opinion arrived at since seeing him. I know of no one in Mt. Pleasant, who would bear a comparison to him, unless it be H. Clay Dean. About the same hight, a larger head, and not quite so much "guts". On the 5th we passed through Jacksonville, county town of Morgan, one of the most beautiful towns in the western country - I presume. With beautiful paved streets, wide pavements thickly studded with shade trees, fine residences and business houses. I know of no town that will bear comparison with it.
