whip the whole South.  Secession is routed by the appearance of troop. 
Our Col. sent six companies of the regiment this morning to the town of Mexico, about 20 miles distant to look after "secessions" and take a secession press at that place.  On the road from Palmyra to this camp I seen the rubish of inumerable cords of wood belonging to the R. R. Co.  Also the remains of a train of cars (13 in No) at Honewell, which were burned some time ago. 
I have nothing more of special interest to write, except that in the shipment of the Regiments baggage from Springfield to Quincy my Valise was mislad and has never been received at the Express office.  Before leaving Springfield I left it in care of the Quartermaster for shipment at Governments expense.  I will write and try and learn something about it when we get stationed, and send it home. Will write soon again.  Love to all.  I met Rile Shaw in Springfield.  He is well and wonders why he does not hear from home.
