Camp Oposit Vicksburg March 8th. 1863 Dear Pa & Ma, Today finds me with my Company on picket between Camp and Vicksburg on the Rail Road runing from Vicksburg through the State. And today being Sunday, I seat myself with my Tin plate on my knee to write upon. I would have writen before this, but I have been waiting every day, thinking that I would get a letter from you before I would write. So I have got tired of waiting so I will write. The past week was a very buisy week for us. Saturday was Muster day for us. Sunday, week ago to day was Inspection. Monday We sined the pay Roles. Tuesday on Picket. Wedensday We rest. Thursday We worked on the canale
