all day and night, so this is the way you see that We put in our time on Friday night the water broke through the canle and it is fast washing away the levey. I learnt last night that Gen Grant had give up all hopes of saving it. for some time past, it has been from one weeks end to another that the leavey has been crowed with Whites and Blacks for over a mile in length working on it. Now it seemes as though there work is all in vane. I will here give you a small sketch of this mighty work and send to you. - - Monday 9th - P.S.= Since writing the above, We received Marching Orders. it has proved to be four or five miles up the river. since We have mooved we have been verry buisy fixing
