In the Trenches, on Picket, Chatanooga, Tenn Oct. 3d 1863 Dear Parents - You have of course had the particulars of the great "battle of Chicamauga" before this, so I need not attempt a repetion. I should have written sooner but thought it no use as letters were not allowed to be sent forth for several days after the battle for the purpose of keeping quiet conflicting stories that would naturally circulate.
