Saturday we lost five Captains and in the two days nine Lieutenants. Co. K. lost first day - Captain wounded, 2d Lt. wounded (died Sunday) and Sunday 1st Lt. with a small number of the company was captured in rifle pits constructed the night previous. The regiment has for duty now about 130 men. Our Reg. left Springfield 28 months ago 1010 strong. Well, I will tell you our situation here on picket and then close. We are close
