I suppose as Tillie & Willie & myself will be "far awa" Carrie writes "she will likely come home soon", but if so after a visit she will most likely keep house at her Ottumwa home. But wife will write you all about what she intends to do & what she wants you to do &c &c. Laswell is now in Marshall Tex., about 200 miles from Carrie. So writes Rev. M.H. Hare who saw him there some 3 weeks ago, acting as Supt of a Laboratory for the manufactory of gun caps, Cannon-fuses &c &c Hare says "Laswell treated him like a brother" &c &c. I should not wonder if Carrie would go to him instead of coming north, but we shall see by & by. I have no concern or care about it, - no a bit. I saw Geo. yesterday & heard from Charley the day before thro. Will Simmons. Both are well. You & Susan, or some of the two families ought to write to Geo. oftener. He has had no letter now for nearly a month. Ned did drop him a very good line in pencil tis true, But I tell you bro. a line or two from Pa is some with Geo. & indeed with any body that has sense Just think of it, were you & I in the army away off from home, how we would jump at a line from the old parental home. Susan too should write much more. So that between the families Geo. would get at least a letter a week. Now I confes I am a little selfish in all this, because you see I hear from you all by Geo. as often as he gets a letter. I will write again soon. Love to all. don't forget Hale & Ben, Ned, Will &c &c J.H.White
