[Oct. 10, 1943] Somewhere in Penn. Sunday evening. Dear Mother, The train is very jerky - much like the North Shore. I have had a sandwich & milk (75c) and am going to eat the cookies after I go to bed. I visited or slept all afternoon - met several nice people, of whom more in a letter. The scenery is lovely - all colored foliage. Roberta & Jimmy took me to the train & Jimmy even put my bag in the seat for me. It made it very easy. Roberta slipped me a tiny parcel not to be opened till Christmas. You might just remember the kids then if you see something. Love Helen
