girl he wanted to marry, his girl in Chicago wasn't working out too well & he thought she was going with a sailor! Then after some dancing I lost Tex got Tony, a dark eyed Italian boy from Ohio. He danced awhile and then when I seemed interested he hauled out his wallet & showed me (1) his 16 year old brother who is a professional accordionist, (128 bars), (2) his mother, who is 43, (3) his sister, who is in high school. Then we square danced & the party was over. It was one of the most thrilling things I've known - to have all the theory & training we've been getting come to life. We were all affected by it. I hadn't expected to find them so eager & polite and hungry for friendship. It is also amazing the respect they have for us and for the Red Cross as an organization. This week we learned to act as master of ceremonies, (given by a man named Slater of NBC), use a public address system, run a movie projector, play
