[Nov. 7, 1943] Dear Mother, It's swell to be lazy a day for a change. I didn't get up till about 10. My roommate Sara, was checked out for the night, so I had quite a sleep. Then I walked over to a shop near here for brunch & did a little drug-store shopping. I'm going to write a few letters, read the paper & maybe doze a little. Then I am to meet Don [note in margin: Donald Farr] at the Burlington at 6:15 & he & Helen & Rusty Neese & Ruth & I are going to dinner at Hogates, a famous sea-food place on the Potomac. I had hoped to invite Farrs for this week sometime, but they beat me to it. Yesterday we had class till 11, then went to the exercises (slip enclosed) till 12:15, had a final luncheon in the loft of the gym (given by some of the girls as a project), then Helen Crumm (Ithaca N.Y.) & I went downtown & shopped at an art store for some stuff we wanted to take with us. (Stuff like pen points, brushes, clay, etc.) Then we went to Harveys & had lobster & mushrooms in sherry sauce, champagne cocktails, etc. Came home about 8 & went to bed. I fixed the hem in my uniform skirt, as I thought I might wear it today. I've
