equally good response in No. 23. The men are so darned nice; I like each ward better than the last. I had to laugh at Mary Bess; she has fallen for the G.U. ward, of all things. All those who can, come to the shop & there are some dandies there. Several of them are the type who used to be at the summer resorts, kidding the girls. They're still kidding. One young kid named Robert Ward, from Carolina, spends lots of time hanging around & has us all scampering when he rolls his eyes & looks sad. He's an awful tease, too. He almost made us miss supper tonight because he grabbed the Head Recreation worker's pin and wouldn't give it back, saying it was a fraternity pin & he was engaged to her. He also has two fine wounds, one where it went in & one where it came out, that he is always offering to show us.
