Saturday afternoon Dec. 4, 1943 Dear Mother, I started this letter about three hours ago, but so many girls have been in to visit that here I am. I'm dividing my seeds with three other girls, two of whom are leaving Dec. 7th. They are Helen Crum & Edetha Hartwig. The other one is Mary Bess Doty, who still is in my position of not knowing when. If I can, I'll probably phone you when I hear my clearing date, as you'd probably like to know. It won't necessarily mean sailing at once, or even for months, but would be an indication that things are doing. Yesterday I did some more shopping, got three jersey print dresses, as if we can take civilian clothes at all the chances are we'll use them a lot. They were the first thing I wanted up in Massachussets. I've also gotten a girdle or so, some cotton mesh stockings, glue, dickies to wear with my uniform, another slip, etc. I'm toying with the idea of another evening rig but will wait & see if I encounter just the right thing. Maybe a couple of fancy blouses to wear over my dinner dress might be good. Last night Mary Bess & I went to Harveys for dinner & then to an English movie called "Jeannie." It was good, but
