2 Jan. 1945 Dear Mr. Elder, I certainly do enjoy receiving the "Scuttlebutt". I had eight copies in my mail the other day so I took yesterday morning to read them. At the present time I am at a rest camp for submariners. There isn't anything fancy about the place but we are surely enjoying it. I don't imagine there are many fellows out here that enjoy the tropical sun but to us it means quite a bit. The most of us never see the sun for a good many days, so when we are on the beach we try to get as much as we can. Many of the fellows are able to write about where they are and
