New Guinea May 20, 1945 Dear Mr. Elder: At a recent date while [craped?] out in my sack I picked up my favorite papper the Scuttlebutt. Glansing through it took special interest in Dick Marshall's, letter in the 58th drip. Hal Longer, seems to think the air is tops and Dick, thinks the infantry is the best branch of the service. I beg to differ with both. Both branches are tops but neither can compare to the Navy Hospital Corp. The air force flys over safely out of range of the enemy and proceds to soften up enemy resistences. Later comes the infantry in to take over the objective. Constantly under fire, but with suport from the air.
