July 8 [1945] Venlo, Holland Dear Dave, It has been quite some time since I have written you and although there really hasn't been any thing of importance to write about, that is no excuse. Since the (fran in fini?) we have little to do. We have lots of training missions to pull in order to remain at top combat efficiency, but (illegible) that doesn't keep one busy enough to not get home sick. Of course lots of fellows are moving out in this redeployment (illegible) - that doesn't help either - all in all its a pretty sad state of affairs. It will be quite some time before yours truly is state side again as I am one of the occupational pilots in this group. It will not be quite the thing I would like to do, but on
