7-31-'45 Dear Dave & Scuttlebutt Gang; Payday once again, the one day of the month we all look forward to. But believe it or not our letters mean just as much to us as our pay envelope. Any news from home is most welcome and it especially pleases me to get news in our Scuttlebutt before the folks at home get it. The other day I run across one of our old Washington business men here at the hospital. Guess who? No one but Roy [Esstes?] that had the Western Auto Supply store on the South side of the square.
