Jan 1 1918 Dear Father Just a line to let you know I am alright and getting so I like France better every day. They are getting so they wont sell us grub any more and we never could bury Candy so we are in a h-l of a fix. Have got no mail for a week and the last letter I got was dated late in Nov. Have you sent me any money yet all we can buy is bread and Karo syrup at the Commisary but at the same time alittle money comes in handy and I have no idea when we will get paid. Some troops have been here since Sept and no pay but I dont think it will be so long for us. And dont forget the sheepskin mitts and the moccassins as we are going to get the boats tomorrow and send a fruit cake too if Mama can find time to make one. or anything else to eat
