soldiers, the best equipped in the world and scrapping like H - l for the best nation in the world. The French think we are very good soldiers and since they little affair this morning they think lots more of us. We are in a town that has been shelled and they sure done a good job of shelling it. All the good buildings are wrecks and very very few people are here yet a few who are too poor or too old to move remain here yet but nearly all the rest have gone. Headquarters platoon have to be streatcher bearers when a battle is over but so far have had no experience at hospital work We will soon go back for a rest and get to sleep up, as we get very little sleep here the trenches are on one side of town and the artillery on the other so we are in easy reach of the german artillery all the time
