we stay here the better provided for we are so by next winter things will be moving along quite smoothly and by next summer this time the war will be over and Ill be started back for home I hope. I suppose you imagine all kinds of terrible things about me you neednt Im having the time of my life. I am sleeping in an old French store with [illegible name] the mechanic from Greece He's a pretty good guy he got up this morning and lit the fire and cooked some eggs before he even woke me up we were up late for breakfast but we had eggs bread and butter and jelly so we didn't miss our bacon and spuds. Every morning I go to the rear from the trenches after supplies clothing ammunition oil etc. and that way I can get eggs and jelly etc. Pat is going to be gone about 10 days I think so I have a fine job for a week or so Did I ever tell you I had been made first class pvt about a month or so ago. I get 57 francs a mo.
