July 12 1918 Dear Mother It is raining outside and promises to be a quiet night so I think I'll drop a line to let you know I'm alright. We has a gas alarm again last night but the gas never came. We sure have the Hun guessing on this front, lots of planes and balloons and we raise *-* every now and then. Pat Hull has just returned from Seippey Co with a captured Hun cap and is now out showing it around. Ferguson is as fat and foolish as ever. He has been promoted to liasion runner now and has it pretty easy. When I came back from the Hospital my old job was waiting for me. Pat even had an empty bunk. I had left the outfit nearly a month before and in an entirely different front as soon as they found out I was pretty bad they got a Alonzo Baldwin to do
