[1918] Aug 20 Dear Dad Well we are at last resting our first rest since the middle of February we are in a very dirty little village quite a ways from the front and not far from our first little village. We have enjoyed all the pleasures of war and certainly have earned a rest. I got my foot run over by an escort wagon and so I'm on sick report and have no work to do but the rest as the gang are cleaning
