Aug. 21, 1918 Dear Dad. Just a [live?] to let you know you neednt send the $10. We are going to get paid soon and I can wait until pay day to pay up. I borrowed about 10 while I was in the hospital and I wanted to pay it back as in these strenuous times you never know whether this is your last pay day on earth or not, I could go to Paris now if I had some money but Im broke absolutely.
