windows and cafes, in all the cafes they have dancing and singing from [off page] till 9 something that is unheard of in France. From [place] we went to [saabriifse?] and from there to Metz. Metz is a disappointment though I expected to see a well fortified city, well shot up by the Americans but the forts are all out some distance from the city and it was not shot up very much. The Germans had built a fine new station though and it's a real [illegible] from the Metz to [place] to Chalous where we were on Bastille Day July 14, from Charous to Chateau Theirry and Paris. In Chateau Theirry they are already getting ready for the tourists and many sail as are flocking up there.
