<letterhead> U.S Naval Air Station - Banana River, Florida <letterhead> August 4,1945 Dear Dave, I have been receiving the Scuttlebutt quite regularly even though I have been moving often. As you will notice the navy has chosen to move me again, so my next Scuttlebutt will have to bear a new address. The one found on the outside of this envelope will be sufficient. As you probably new, I was in PBM's over a Corpus Christi, in fact, we were just about finished with our training. They decided Corpus was too crowded, so they sent a number of the crews over here to Banana River, In case you don't know where this is, I'll give you a hint. We are about 60 miles south of Daytona Beach, & about 200 mi. north of Miami, right along the coast. I had my first swim in the Atlantic the other day. We have a nice base here for, as small as it is. Most of our spare time is spent on the ever-reaching beach (30 miles long), which is really beautiful. We have lots of spare time here too, because we haven't been worked into the squadron as yet. We have a nice Officer's Club over on the beach, where dances are held quite often. We had one little experience at Corpus Christi, which I thought you might be interested in hearing about. We were flying along at about 6000 ft., taking it easy when all of a [over]
