SCUTTLEBUTT WASHINGTON IOWA c/o DAVE ELDER 370 SW 406 CPL RUSSEL R. MILLER 689 [illegible] MATERiAL [illegible] 439 AIR SV. GP. A.P.O. 559 [illegible - end of address] Dear Dave Aug 27, 1945 Munich Germany I have been going to write for a quite awhile but have been expecting a new A.P.O. but haven't got it yet. I am at R-85 very near Munich, Germany and anyone getting to Munich can easily locate me or I will find them. Anyone at the guardhouse can tell them where to find me as I know all of those fellows. I am cooking at the present but expect to change back to the commissary again this week. We are locate on a German air base which was mostly jet planes and an experimental base before the end of the war. We have very nice living conditions with nice two man rooms. The barrack look more like a dormitory than a army base. We are in the air force army of occupations with no battle stars for our 23 months service so expect to be here for quite awhile. Hope to see lots of country. Have been to Burchtesgaden and Lake Chiemesee. So Long Russell
