September 1, 1945 Hello Dave, Sorry I haven't written to you sooner but it was just yesterday that I remembered I was to send you my address. I'm not much on writing letters anyway. Now that I'm back in the states it doesn't seem as if I'm very far from home compared to being overseas so consequently I don't feel the urge for writing very often. I've been pretty lucky on the whole since I was inducted in the Army and my luck has continued to hold out. I'm in the Second Air Force now and am stationed at the best base that they have. The worse base the Second AF has is the field outside [illegible], texas. The town has two hundred and one population. Can't you just imagine a bunch of soldiers having a good time in a place like that. Colorado Springs is really a nice looking town and has a lot of beautiful homes. The town itself has a few taverns but no nice dance halls which is all that interest me. Denver is seventy two miles from C.S. and that is where everyone goes for a really good time. Denver is known as a soldiers' town and you can sure tell it because they treat a soldier swell. So far I've danced to Tony [Pactions's?] and Ted Weem's orchestras and really enjoyed myself. I never got a chance like that in Washington. I hope this finds you and everyone else feeling fine. I hope to be receiving the Scuttlebutt soon as I'm curious to hear about some of the fellows. You haven't by any chance been out here have you? Take it easy Dave and don't do anything I wouldn't [Cpl. Clifford C. Brown] Cliff
