USS. LSM-169 0/0 F.P.O. S. F. Calif 1st Sept 1945 Dear Dave, I recieved a letter from you, suggesting, I write a Special request, for the hometown news, after it runs out, providing I still wanted it. It so happens, I've changed from two different ships since the letter was written back in June. Before I was on Temporary duty, with a job of being shifted to any amphious ship in the Seventh Fleet where ever the Administrative staff wanted to send me. Now with a more or less permanent status until I'm relieved to go home. Which will be the biggest event I can think of now, Then I can walk out on the Front Porch a pick-up the old Hometown News fresh off the press. Things will start, back where they left off. It looks like a lots of us will be living in different parts of the states, but I'm sure Washington will still be home, and a place to be proud of. Plenty of hero's have hail from old W.H.S. and some probably forgotten yet we've got to pay for that priviledge of being able to still call it home.
