[Letterhead: Army Air Force] October 3, 1945 Hello Dave, I guess your going to be the first one to know I'm going to get a discharge in a couple of weeks. I could write and let everyone know but I would rather just walk in the house some afternoon in civilian clothes and surprise everyone. I'm scheduled to ship from this field the ninth of this month. I'm being sent to Truck Field, Wisconsin. What part of Wisconsin that is I don't know. I was figuring on getting sent to Sioux City but I got fooled. As you probably know the Air Force has set up thirty two seperation centers for the Air Force personnel only Otherwise I would be going to Jefferson Barracks. I can hardly realize the great day is just around the corner. You might as well stop sending the Scuttlebut as I won't be around any longer to receive it. I got a ticket here on a [pace?] on the game today but I don't think I have much of a chance of winning. I drew number section and the score there was seven to nothing midway of the third inning and from the sound of cheering I hear in the next room it looks as though some more runs have been scored. I'll close for now, Dave. Just wanted you to know the good news and to stop the Scuttlebutt. Adios, Cliff [Cpl. Cliff Brown]
