Camp Arles, France
Dear Dave and Mabe:
This is to tell you that you can scratch my name off the Scuttlebutt list - I actually think I'm coming back to the states soon. I could be wrong but we are supposed to leave Europe about the 20th of this month. Scuttlebutt has been a most welcome weekly letter for over a year now and I want to express my thanks to you and everyone who has helped with its' printing and distribution.
The part of France that we are stationed in is about the center of the section of the country that the Romans occupied and while off duty I've had a chance to see some of the old ruins of buildings, tombs, towers, theaters, and arenas that are to be found in Mimes Avignon, Arles and some of the other smaller towns near us.
Well folks I hope you are both ok and the livestock is under control. Best Wishes - hope to see you both soon. "Johnny"
